Frequently asked questions

How long is the international league season?

The Five Iron Golf International League will run for 9 weeks. There are 7 weeks of regular season, and 1 week of playoffs that everyone makes

  • Additionally, the week before the season kicks off, all players will have access to an optional Handicap Week to develop their Trackman Handicap

During the Final week, the top teams will advance to the International Championship based on the following

  • Top 20 Gross Teams plus Top Gross Team from Each Location
  • Top 20 Net Teams plus Top Net Team from Each Location


All other teams will play in their locations playoffs amongst the teams who did not advance, during week 8

How does league play work?

  • Teams will compete against other local teams as well as teams across the country, and Internationally
  • Each round, teams will play 9 holes on rotating courses and formats
  • Players will putt with 12-foot gimmies
  • Play runs for 8 weeks, with 7 weeks of regular season, and 1 week of playoffs/championships

Who can play in the league?

  • The tournament is open to men, women or any person over the age of 12.
  • Must have 2 players to compete – but free agents can be matched up

* Five Iron Staff Members are able to join the league but will be exempt from all prizing

Is the league handicapped?

Yes, each team player will be required to have a TrackMan handicap. You can obtain a handicap by playing one round of golf on a TrackMan simulator at any one of our locations prior to the beginning of the league season.

Complimentary Handicapping Rounds are offered during our Introductory Round. These dates can be found above in the League Information Section.

A registered Golf Australia (GA) is not required.

Whilst a TrackMan handicap is required to play in the International League, there will be leaderboards for both Gross (not including handicap) and Nett (including handicap) scores throughout the season.

How do I enter?

All team members will be required to register for the international league season at their chosen location via our online League Registration form.

What comes with my entry?

Your entry includes:

  • One complimentary handicapping round
  • One round during each of the 8 rounds of the season
  • Entry into the 'nearest to the pin' competition each week
  • Massive prizes from The House of Golf, Five Iron Golf, Golf Dubai, World Golf Competition & OGIO

How does each round work?

  • Each week teams will come in at their designated time and be directed to their simulator
  • A League Coordinator at each location will help teams set up their round week to week
  • Teams will not be given scorecards to fill out as all of the scores will be saved through Trackman

How do I schedule my rounds?

You will have the option to pick your league night for the season when completing our online League Registration form, or you can contact the League Manager at your chosen venue register your team and desired time of play.

Play will commence from 7pm on your selected night at your selected venue. Warm-up will commence from 6.30pm (pending booth availability).

Alternatively, you can contact your league manager and schedule your league round at your convenience*

*Each round must be completed in the relevant week of competition ie. round 1 must be played within the first week

How do I know what course I'm playing?

Before the commencement of the following round, a newsletter will be sent to all League players, communicating:

  • 'nearest to the pin' winners for each league night,
  • updated Leader Board, and
  • course for the next week.

Can I use my own clubs and balls?

Absolutely! We want you to play at your best so please bring your own clubs and balls each week. Hire clubs will also be available for men, women and juniors.

How does scoring work?

Each week your team’s score will be your score to par for that week. (i.e. if you scored -2 the first week and then -4 the second week, you season score would be -6)
If teams tie during any week, the Tiebreaker is:

  • Total of the last 6 holes
  • Total of the last 3 holes
  • Total of the last hole
  • Sudden Death Matchplay from the last hole backwards

What simulator technology is use?

All leagues will be exclusively played on TrackMan. All team members will be required to download the TrackMan app and create a personal account.

What happens if my team can't make a night?

If you are unable to play in your regular slot, please let our league manager know. The league manager will then be able to organise a make up session for you to play your league round

Can different players play each week?

Yes. A team can register up to a max of 5 people in their squad. Registered players can rotate throughout the season, however there are to be no team changes between the Playoffs and International Championship. All players must have played 2 handicapped league rounds to qualify for finals (any bonus scramble or 4BBB events DO NOT count).

How do single players work?

Register as a Free Agent and we will aim to group you into a team. Once confirmed, Free Agents will attend week 1 of League play for a team meet and greet, and commence play.

If we cannot fill a team with Free Agents, a full refund will be given.

What should I know about the simulators?

  • All players are expected to use the simulator properly and adhere to the Five Iron Golf Tour rules and regulations.
  • Any attempts to manipulate the simulator as determined by the Five Iron Golf Tour in its sole discretion will be grounds for removal.
  • Teeing up the ball is only permitted on the first shot of every hole. A one stroke penalty will be assessed for any violations of this rule.

How do I access the venue?

Both our Mentone and Ringwood venues have additional access points located at the rear of The House of Golf stores. This entry is required to be used once The House of Golf store closes. After hours times are dependent on the stores closing hours.
